To people whose national origin is the country of India, can you tell me something?

Does the Mahabhrarata (pardon spelling please) tell the story of a battle between the "gods" in the sky many centuries ago? I saw a program on A&E that said how a literal battle of UFOs in the skies over India between several possible extraterrestrial civilizations had "flying chariots that fired lightning" for weapons, and this was allegedly witnessed by the many citizens of India. My question is, do most Indian citizens consider this to be a work of fiction or is it considered real, or a part of religious history? Could you also please elaborate on the story and what you know for me? I thank you in advance, and I'll have another question later.
