Can anyone cite a founder of the U.S. saying that the country was founded as a "Christian nation"?

Its not for the benifit of the christians, but as the constitution states all religions.Most of the people who started this nation were fleeing persecution of certain Christian beliefs, and based their laws on their beliefs at that time, but it was to help all people who faced persecution.
