How to remove water marks from suede sneakers?

I wore a beige pair of sneakers in the rain (yeah really smart) and now they have a water mark right across the front. Will suede cleaner remove it? is it safe to wash tem in the machine? I also have beige boots that dye from my jeans rubbed on them....so one is a water mark the second is a dye mark from edge to edge.
