Is it true: both Venus traveling across the sun & a solar eclipse will occur in 2012?

and the only place you can view these events in the western hemisphere is on a remote island off Chile. the History channel show says that Venus crossing the sun is rare. How rare is it? how often does it occur? it(venus) occurs 200 days before Dec 21, 2012.
