Does amnesia seem like a paradox to anyone?

i was thinking say you have amnesia and can't remember a certain part of your life after some period in it ....how would that work? i mean you wake up and realise that you don't remember the last six years of your life....it's like going to bed today and waking up to find out it has been 6 years....but where did they go cos you've certainly woken up and felt the next day during these six years where did they go....it's like there's two of you....and the one that has lived for during these six years will die...did he ever exist at all then
