Why does everyone think Percy and Annabeth are dating?

I mean yeah! Sure they kissed, but that is a little more symbolic then a real relationship! Isn't it? Pus the books don't say anything about dating. Now i'm a little confused. How come everyone wants them together? I never thought of us as a thing... Still confused..... help me out?
